Why is social media important? In this century, 78% of people use some form of social media daily. Society has advanced in the aspect of technology drastically in the last decade. Snap chat, Instagram, and Facebook are just a few examples of social media websites that people are highly involved on. Throughout the world, there will always been good and evil. Social media can definitely be used for some evil and have a negative connotation, but overall, social media has a positive impact on life. Daily, people experience the world in new innovative ways and social media just happens to be one. We use these sites to keep in touch with friends and family who are out of reach, to update them on our current events happening in our life, and to add some laughter and happiness to our day.

Snap chat is composed of several filters used to distort images and create a funny picture. Instagram reinvented the quote “a picture is worth a thousand words” by developing a site where one can express feelings through pictures instead of words. Facebook allows one to stay up to date with events and others’ lives. One can share words, pictures, videos, or emotions by the feelings emoticons outlet through which you react to posts.

Not only through entertainment, social media is used every day to keep us up to date with what is happening every second of every day. We are able to find updates on elections, world affairs, and emergencies within minutes. Today, we are a society where information is reached in seconds with the click of a button. The patience factor of life is almost absent. We demanded and

technology provided. Every day, we choose to communicate with one another. Whichever way one chooses to communicate is up to them, but advancement in technology has given us several outlets for communication. All we have to do is take advantage of the benefits.
